CURE

Glass beads are small decorative elements obtained from molten glass, available in countless shapes, colors, and finishes. Used for making necklaces, bracelets, and other accessories, glass beads are materially robust, but require attention in caring for the stringing material—often silk, nylon, or cotton—which represents the most vulnerable point of the accessory. Chemicals in cosmetics and perfumes are the main enemies of glass luster

Care and maintenance of glass beads

Cleaning

Lightly damp soft cloth. For deep cleaning: warm water with a drop of neutral detergent, rinse and dry thoroughly.

Drying

Carefully dry the joints: stagnant water weakens the thread over time, especially if made of silk or cotton.

Storage

Store separately to avoid scratching between beads. Glass surfaces can chip if bumped.

Treatment

Avoid perfumes, hairsprays, and creams: chemicals dull the beads and deteriorate the thread.

Inspection

Periodically check the integrity of the thread, especially at the knots. At the first sign of failure, have it restrung.

⚠️ Warning: Wear the accessory only after applying perfumes and cosmetics, not before. Chemical residues accumulate on the beads and reduce their luster over time.

Additional information

Silk thread: If the thread is made of silk (as in Seta accessories), avoid any contact with water: wet silk weakens and deforms easily.

Bath and sport: Always remove accessories before swimming, playing sports, or entering a sauna.

Restringing: A thread in good condition is essential for the safety of the accessory. Have the knots checked every 12–18 months by a craftsman.
