This Wayuu Mochila (bag) is entirely hand-woven in cotton, using a single-thread crochet technique that makes it durable and compact. Decorated with graceful pompoms on the handle and base, it combines a fun shape with elegance.

This mochila is born from the hands of Wayuu weavers, an indigenous community from Colombia, inhabitants of the Guajira region (the northernmost peninsula of South America). Wayuu weaving is a female textile tradition passed down through generations. Unlike traditional crochet, Wayuu women work with a single thread, a technique that requires great skill and gives the bag a more rigid, compact, and durable weave.

This fun version of the mochila features a solid color body with graceful pompoms extending from the handle down to the bottom of the bag; specially applied details enrich the mochila with movement, volume, and a playful touch to the design.

Comfort and practicality

The 5 cm wide handle ensures a comfortable and secure grip, making this mochila perfect for everyday use. Its medium size makes it spacious yet light to wear, ideal to accompany you on any occasion, from a casual to a more refined look.

The front closure with two tightening pompoms completes the bag with a functional yet decorative detail.

What is a mochila?

A mochila is a traditional shoulder bag, entirely hand-woven by the indigenous peoples of Latin America. Made with techniques passed down through generations, each mochila is hand-woven using natural fibers, wool, cotton, or beads, and often decorated with designs and pictograms that tell stories, spiritual symbols, and the worldview of each community.

More than just an accessory, the mochila is an expression of cultural identity, an object that combines daily functionality with artistic value, and carries with it the labor, time, and tradition of its creators.

Note: as this is a hand-woven piece, small variations in colors, weaving, or pompoms are part of the unique and authentic character of each mochila.

CURE

This mochila is made from a hand-woven cotton blend and, with proper care, can accompany you for a long time, maintaining its colors and shape.

It can be machine washed by placing it inside a laundry bag to protect the weaving and pompoms during washing. We recommend using a delicate cycle with cold or lukewarm water, avoiding bleach or harsh detergents.

For drying, it is preferable to air dry the bag, away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight, to preserve the vibrancy of the colors.

Do not iron directly.
