"Cima" earrings are sculpted by skilled Wounaan artisans using fine local woods such as chonta, mareblanco, palo sangre, and amargo; each material lends a different shade of color, durability, and natural character to the jewelry. These pieces encapsulate the heart of Wounaan craftsmanship, an indigenous people of the Colombian Pacific: men carve the wood, conveying strength and precision, while women weave the fiber with mastery and patience, creating delicate and symbolic designs. The union of this ancestral knowledge gives life to a unique object, blending tradition and contemporary design with profound authenticity. Around the wooden structure carved by the men, Wounaan women hand-weave thin threads of werregue, an ancestral palm from the Pacific, creating refined geometric and symbolic patterns. The thin werregue fiber threads are dyed with natural pigments from the region, and hypoallergenic stainless steel hooks ensure comfort and safety even for the most sensitive skin.

CURE

Palm fiber is a plant fiber extracted from the leaves or bark of various palm species. Resistant, ecological, and naturally waterproof, it is commonly used for baskets, hats, rugs, and decorative items. Its care is simple, but requires attention to humidity and sunlight.

Routine Cleaning

Dry brushing or damp cloth. Avoid full washing

Stains

Dab immediately with lukewarm water and mild soap. Do not rub

Drying

Air dry, away from direct heat sources

Storage

In a dry place, away from humidity (causes mold) and excessive dryness (makes the fiber brittle)

  • Avoid immersion in water: palm fibers absorb moisture and can deform or rot.
  • To restore flexibility to a dried item, lightly moisten the surface with a barely damp cloth.
  • Periodically expose palm fiber to fresh air to prevent moisture stagnation.
